We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you.

Because by your Holy Cross you have redeemed the world.

Let us consider the wonderful submission of Jesus our innocent Lord. In receiving so unjust a sentence; and remember that our sins were the cause of the impious judge pronouncing it. Let us turn, therefore, to our loving Lord, and say to Him with the heart rather than with the lips :

Dear Jesus, how tender, beyond all utterance, is your Love ! For the sake of such unworthy creatures as we are. you have suffered imprisonment and scourges; and to crown all, have been condemned to death ! this is enough to touch our hearts and make us detest all those sins which have been the cause of it. Yes, we detest and bitterly repent them; and all along this way of sorrows we will continue to lament and bewail them, while we say : My Jesus, mercy.

Jesus crucified, have mercy on us..
