1. Is the emergency number 9-1-1 posted at every telephone?
2. Is your phone number and address near the telephone, in case of emergency?
3. Is your house number visible so emergency vehicles can find you?
4. Do you have a working smoke detector in your home? and is it tested monthly?
5. Are all electrical cords in good condition and in the open?
6. Is the TV set always kept a few inches away from any furniture or draperies so the heat coming out will not set them on fire?
7. Are matches and lighters kept in a safe place, out of the reach of children?
8. Have all fire hazards been removed from around your home?
9. Is everyone in your family aware of fireplace and wood stove safety?
10. Do you sleep with your bedroom door closed?
11. Do you know what to do if your clothes catch on fire? Have you practiced STOP, DROP and ROLL?
12. Are all combustible items like curtains, drapes and furniture kept safely away (3 feet) from all heating devices in your home?
13. Are light bulbs arranged so they never touch any material and set it on fire?
14. Are smokers careful when they smoke in your home?
15. Is the furnace or other heating equipment in your home checked regularly to be sure that the pipe is clean, filters are clean and there are no leaks or defects that might cause a fire?
16. Have all fire hazards been removed from your basement, attic, and garage?
17. Are baby sitters carefully instructed on what to do in emergencies?
18. Are gasoline products stored in a metal container and kept in a cool, safe place?
19. Do you have a fire extinguisher in your home and know how to use it?
20. Do you have a fire escape plan including a meeting place outside your home or business?
21. Do you practice E.D.I.T.H., Exit Drills In The Home?
