A new fish vaccine called Furogen B (manufactured by Aqua Health Ltd) has recently been introduced and is currently available at Benson's Pond Supplies in Onalaska. The vaccination provides koi carp the ability to fight off or resist challenge by disease-causing bacteria such as atypical Aeromonas salmonicida, which leads to carp erythrodermatitis (otherwise know as ulcer disease).
According to Ben Wood, owner and proprietor of Benson's Pond Supplies , the use of quality vaccines combined with good husbandry will give you healthy fish; however a vaccinated fish is NOT impervious to disease. Numerous stress factors can affect the proper function of their immune system.

High parasite load ; and
Presence of other diseases.
The Furogen injectable is sold in 5-cc vials and will be priced at $249.95 per vial . Each will vaccinate approximately 50 koi regardless of size the injectable method requires only one shot per koi.
The Furogen b immersion vaccination kit will vaccination kit will vaccinate 26 pounds of koi and costs $49.95 . " At that price, you can't afford not to vaccinate your cherished koi ," say Wood " We are continually looking for new products and better ways to help keep your koi healthy.
